by Karen Torres Breceda

march 21 – may 9, 2025
open during futuro hours

Karen Torres Breceda art is an invitation into the intimacy of home. The home of her mind where associations & memories are dancing in confluences of the senses. The home of her body is an anatomy of growth, a muscular curvature of her experiences & dreams prophesied by the magic of her hands. The home of her heart where she holds family & friends in the riverlike veins of her invisible but tangible connections to love & being loved. & even still with our beloveds it can be difficult to let someone in, our home is a sanctuary sometimes a solitary one & for Karen her home her art is a way for her to communicate with not only us the audience but also those closest to her— family.

SESSION 014:
nudo (DJ + Live)
with Omeed Norouzi

saturday, march 29
in the salon
doors: 08:30pm
21+

Eric Hernandez and Joaquin Tenorio form the collaborative duo nudo by using aural collage techniques, and the schizo-sonic intensity of necropolitics at the US-Mexico border. Combining found clips from social media, Tejano fusion, cumbia rhythms, electronic effects, white noise, and acoustic samples, their work expresses a gothicromantic vitality on the cusp of oblivion. Originally from Eagle Pass and Ciudad Juarez, respectively. They focus on the inversion of regional, Tejano, and nortefio sounds to emphasize the deeply irregular and hybridized phrasings, play styles, traditions, and mythologies encrypted therein.

SESSION 013:
YHWH Nailgun
with Morgan Garrett

wednesday, april 25
in the salon
doors: 08:30pm
21+

The quartet of Zack Borzone (vox), Jack Tobias (synth), Sam Pickard (drums), and Saguiv Rosenstock (guitar) display an innate ability to translate a primitive spirit into a modern form. Born during the lockdown as an experimental project between Borzone and Pickard in Philadelphia, the group expanded as the two moved to New York, adding Tobias for their debut self-titled EP, which was produced by Rosenstock, who was then integrated into the band. That first collection is one of self-discovery, of finding the tools necessary to make songs within the band’s own ecosystem. They honed in on their own world and their collaborative, close-knit writing process, discovering the essential structures and feelings that make YHWH Nailgun.
